Custom Built Tiny Travel Trailer

Custom built, compact camping trailer custom-built especially for small vehicles with 2000 lb or more towing ability--dry weight 1650 lbs. It features a top section over the galley that is easily raised by one person to provide stand-up height of over 6'. When the top is raised, four windows in the side panels allow a 360 degree view of the outside. When the top is lowered for travel or storage, the overall height of the trailer is less than the standard height of a garage door or carport opening so it can be stored inside.

This trailer was used for only two weekends as my wife's declining health, that worsened after building the trailer, prevented me from going camping more often. Except for the two weekends of use it has been stored under a portable garage since being built.

Outside dimensions of the cabin are 5' wide wide by 12' 4 " long, with an overall length of 16' 4" (hitch coupler to rear bumper). Small size, Big Features: the couch converts into a nearly Queen Size Bed (58" x 78") with 7" latex/memory foam cushions/mattress. It has lots of storage space and a galley countertop and cabinet with a small sink and a two burner propane cook top. It also has an upright ice box (not a fridge), a microwave, removable 5000 BTU AC unit, Pioneer AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with Sony speakers, and a wall mounted Vizio 18" HDTV. It has all 12V lighting with 12V and 110V interior outlets.

The cabin was constructed of pine/spruce framing with 1/4" plywood skin that was covered with two coats of fiberglass resin prior to priming and painting. All skin joints are sealed with fiberglass resin and cloth tape. The frame was custom built of steel and features a rear bumper with spare tire mount (spare tire and cover included) and a 20 lb. propane tank mounted on the tongue.

Total cost of materials to build the trailer was over $5100 (materials cost list is available on request) plus about 500 hours of my time. I am selling my trailer for less than it cost me to build as I plan to sell my home and move to another state by the end of the year. It is priced to sell to me for only $4500 (Firm). This trailer would be great for two people for camping, traveling, hunting and fishing, etc. I sell plans to build this and another compact trailer. Additional photos and a video tour of this trailer (the Pop Top) can be found on my WEB site, thesquidget dot com. Interested parties can email me at squidget2005@yahoo.com.
