My Seaplane Plans

My designing was done using a 10 year old copy of Visio Business Graphics, a 2-D drawing program. I've used Visio to design many things, including tool jigs, furniture, my storage shed, and a tiny travel trailer for two (I designed and built the camper from scratch and I sell the plans at TheSquidget.com). Visio isn't as sophisticated as modern CAD programs, but is easy to use and serves my purpose. I also use MS Paint and IrFanView, a free photo manipulation program, and occasionally Photo Shop Elements. To print full size plan sheets, I set the scale to 1:1 and manually "tile" the pages to print sections on either letter size or 11" x 17" paper. I have a large format Epson printer that I bought to print the oversize pages as part of the camper plans that I sell.

Here are some examples of my plans:

This is the overall view of the fuselage, top and side views showing all formers and the servo/pushrod placement for the tail feathers.

This is the detailed plan for the engine pod and pylon to support it, with sequential assembly instructions.

This is a layout of my balsa sheets with parts arranged to plan the most effieient use of the wood.
